This is my blog for my new business. I've been knitting since Feb 2009 after a break of 15+ years. I first learned from books but picked up again since my friend dyed the most beautiful yarns and I just couldn't collect them. I started to spin in Aug 2010 on a spindle and then on a Hansen Minispinner since Oct 2010. I started to weave Sept 2014 on an Emilia Glimakra Rigid Heddle Loom. I've been test knitting since 2011 and a sample knitter since 2016.

FO and Another Sample Knit!
I got my test knit done. It just needs to be washed and blocked. It's the part I like least along with weaving in the ends.
I finally got my Baa-ble Hat washed and blocked. It's ready for my trip to Rhinebeck in the fall.
My Drachenfels turned out HUGE but that is what you get when your "fingering" weight yarn isn't quite fingering weight. I love it though and it will go in the county and state fair this year.
I got my Woolgathering off the wheel. I can't wait to see how it plies up.
This is my latest sample knit. It's Spotlight and it will be at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival at the Backyard Fiberworks booth!! If you remember just around Christmas, I won $100 gift certificate to Backyard Fiberworks. I got some lovely yarn and just decided to ask Alice if she needed samples knitted. She said yes! She has some other shawls I will be knitting too. This is Backyard Fiberworks Sock in Shell. I soon will be adding Silver Springs.

A Break from Sample Knitting
My Sample knit shawl. It was mailed on Saturday morning and it arrived on Monday. It was super fast! She has more smaller projects but I'm not in a rush to get them.
This shawl is a Christmas present for the wife of my husband's co worker. I need to get it done!
These slippers are for me but I have 2 more pairs to make.
These socks for my daughter are almost done!!
On the wheel is some lovely 15.5 micron merino and its so nice!!
The last of the rolags are spun up!
This is actually starting to look like a cardigan. Never mind the fact that I started it 3 years ago!
Another test knit hat. It's a good way to make sure that I get it knitted and done. It's for the lady at Safeway that makes sandwiches. She is really good and going to retire in February.

Test Knit, Another Sample, Spinning and Yarn!
Here is my progress on my test knit. I'm getting to the end. There is more brown now on the right side since this picture.
I was almost done the 2nd repeat of this sample shawl when I saw that I messed up the last section of the first repeat. UGH! Now I have to rip back and reknit it. The pattern is pretty easy with lace and garter sections (8) repeated 6 times. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/paris-toujours
Spinning progress. I will be n-plying this today or tomorrow.
I saw these Caron Cakes at Michael's and I had to bring home 2 for this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/skye-boat-shawl

Spinning and Knitting
I've been spinning a rainbow. I was running out of space on my bobbin so I had to break it up into 2. It's thicker then my usually spinning and more nubs from the fiber.
I finished one of my test knits and working on another. I need to stop signing up for them. I will be sample knitting so that will put some of my projects on the back burner. I so need to finish up some gifts and work on my business plan!

Yes, I Have a Problem
I'm almost done a test knit and I'm going to start another one today.
I'm on the last mosaic section of the Optimist Shawl test knit and then just a last lace section.
This is another Ambah design. It's suppose to be knitted with a solid and gradient yarn. I'm going to start with the brown, use the red for the bobbles and then finish off with the blue.

All Done Testing For Now
I finished this sort of test knit. I've test knitted for Stephanie before. She gave us patterns to knit up by Aug 30th that needs some more projects (3 or less). For doing this "test" knit, I also got a pattern. This basically meant I got 2 patterns for free! An awesome deal for me. I don't know why this cowl isn't more popular. It wasn't too hard and it looks really complicated. Another bonus for me was that my daughter requested a cowl so perfect!
Needles: Size 3 and 4
Yarn: Plymouth Yarn Encore Worsted Solids & Heathers in 1033 Medium Lavendar
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tiltawhirl-cowl
This was a double knit cowl test. For some reason it came out bigger but my gauge was smaller then the project called for. I also went down 2 sizes of needle. I ran out of the dark yarn (which is actually dark purple like below) but I ended up using a dark brown for the last couple of rows. I don't think you can tell the different color and weight (it was sport instead of DK).
Needles: Size 2 circular (cast on with Size 4)
Yarn: Cephalopod Yarns Traveller in Detour and Peshawar, The Sanguine Gryphon Bugga! in Rhinocerous Beetle - Chocolate
Pattern: Coming Soon!
What I need to do is work on my current 19 WIP. Instead I keep wanting to start new projects. This is a cardigan that I started Jun 2014. I'm on the easy but long part of plain knitting.
Needle: Size 5 and 6 circulars
Yarn: The Sanguine Gryphon Free Range in Delegorgues Pigeon
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/tidal
This is what is on the wheel right now. It's my favorite 50% merino and 50% silk. This is fiber from JulieSpins and its in the colorway Raspberry Swirl. I think I have 3 more days before I ply. I can't wait to see how it turns out.

More Testing
I am doing 2 more tests and trying to finish some knitting for the fair.
Both are cowls.
This is yarn from HeyHollyHoHum. It's another sparkly yarn. I been on a sparkle yarn kick lately
Both are cowls.
This is yarn from JulieSpins. It was from her Unclub. She doesn't have club yarn but occasionally she will have yarn and colors that you can order as much as you want from her. I've been wanting to get some of this Stella yarn. It really does sparkle as much in real life!

Getting Stuff Done!
My latest simple sock pattern with striping yarn. It's my go to pattern from Wendy Knits and the yarn is On Beach Time Tumbleweed Yarn Aurora Fingering Weight.
My test knit wrap is all done. It took 65 hours and I still have to wash & block it. I love Ambah's patterns! http://www.ravelry.com/stores/ambah
My last Tour De Fleece yarn. It's about half way through plying. Good thing since today is the last day of Tour De Fleece.
My last sort of test knit. I got the pattern free as long as I finish the knit by Aug 30th. I think I will make the deadline. http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/anemone-hat-2 I'm getting much better at color work! It's done with my handspun so that is why you got the differences in color.

One Done, One To Go!
It's all done! I just need to weave in the ends and block. I didn't get the 10" length but then again I didn't knit till 6.5" before decrease. The owner loves it!

Another Test Knit
I am a glutton for punishment! I have a HUGE shawl (over 1,000 yards) test shawl that needs to be done by the end of July. July is Tour De Fleece for which my goal this year is just to spin each day. I missed one and will probably miss a couple more days due to travel. Then I decide to sign up for another test knit. I have to say though that both my girls wanted a hat from the test knit. I hope it will go fast. I did managed to finish the brim last night and it should be quick after the color work. If you want to check out the pattern, look here: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/knit-wit-designs-fans/3458834/1-25#22

One Down, Three To Go
I got the socks done and they went to the new owner on Friday. Meanwhile I still have other projects to get done before May 6th.
This test knit is more then half way done. It's due in May.
I'm on the last chart and see the end of this shawl. Which I want to take with me and give to a friend in May.
This is a knit along that needs to be done for May too. I'm more then half way through the yarn so it should be done soon.

Deadline WIP
First on the list is these socks. I a bit further then the picture but the 2nd one still isn't done. They are for someone's birthday and I need to have them done before Apr 8th.
Needles: Size 0 circulars
Yarn: Plymouth Yarn Diversity in Denim
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/gusset-heel-basic-socks
This is a KAL which is due in May. I started it before the KAL but the designer is letting us do WIP. The KAL is here: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/maliha-designs/3398520/126-150#142
Needles: Size 7 circular
Yarn: Cephalopod Yarns Traveller in multicolor and naked
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/frieze-shawl
This shawl needs to be done before my trip in May since I want to gift it to someone I will be seeing in person.
Needles: Size 7 circular
Yarn: Cephalopod Yarns Nautilace in Honeycomb cowfish?
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/perles
This is the yarn for a test knit which is due May 2nd. I had fun digging in my leftover yarn (which I must organized better) for it. The red will be the main color and then scraps for the lace part of the yarn.
This is the start of my test knit wrap.

No Test Knitting For Me!
I did test knit a hat before Christmas but otherwise no test knitting for me. I finally finished a test knit I started last year. Luckily the author wasn't in a rush for me to finish. There wasn't anything wrong with the pattern. Just 14 repeats of 12 rows. I get bored easily so I kept putting it down. I also ran out of yarn. You would think with over 1000 yards I would have enough. NOPE! I only did 13 repeats of the first chart and then only 3 out of 7 repeats of the 2nd chart. I ran out as I was casting off. Luckily I had some handspun that was about the same color and thickness.
