I'm still trying to finish a big sample knit. It's 1200 yards.
It's the 5190 Miles Shawl. I'm suppose to do another Everyday Shawl next so knitting time for me will be limited.
Meanwhile I'm trying to finish of this fiber before the start of Tour De Fleece which starts Jul 1st.
I started a bunch of projects too.
I also joined a KAL. So far this is my progress luckily I have till Aug 15th to finish this colorwork hat.
This is my blog for my new business. I've been knitting since Feb 2009 after a break of 15+ years. I first learned from books but picked up again since my friend dyed the most beautiful yarns and I just couldn't collect them. I started to spin in Aug 2010 on a spindle and then on a Hansen Minispinner since Oct 2010. I started to weave Sept 2014 on an Emilia Glimakra Rigid Heddle Loom. I've been test knitting since 2011 and a sample knitter since 2016.

KAL
Why do I keep getting pulled into KAL (knit-alongs)? I don't like deadlines and I have a bunch of things that I need to finish up but I keep sign up for them. Here is my May KAL that I managed to finished before the last day.
Yarn: Premier Yarns Deborah Norville Serenity Chunky Prints in Berry Burst
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cedar-grove-shawl
I have yarn wound up in a cakes for a June KAL too. It's by PicnicKnits. Details here: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/picnicknits/3431915/1-25
It doesn't help that I already have these patterns and the yarn to go with it already.

One Down, Three To Go
I got the socks done and they went to the new owner on Friday. Meanwhile I still have other projects to get done before May 6th.
This test knit is more then half way done. It's due in May.
I'm on the last chart and see the end of this shawl. Which I want to take with me and give to a friend in May.
This is a knit along that needs to be done for May too. I'm more then half way through the yarn so it should be done soon.

Progress!
I'm making progress but I don't see it being done by the end of the month. I'm making a shawl out of this pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/icehouse I'm also worried that I didn't get enough of the blue yarn.
Yarn: Cascade Yarns Avalon in Red Orange and Blue Radiance.

I'm Not Going To Make It
This is the start of my Icehouse KAL. The other piece was just a sample and I realized that I will have to knit and write out my pattern as I go. I need 2 more knit rows and then I can start the pattern. I won't be making the Feb 28th deadline for sure!

Twist Stitches
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/saturns-rings-shawl
Yarn: Cephalopod Yarns Skinny Bugga! in Flamboyant cuttlefish
This is what I seem to be spending most of my time knitting. This and 2 test knits. What gets me is the twist stitches. There is a yarn over (YO) that you drop. The design is to make long stitches. What happens is try to knit the YO rather then the stitch. This is hard to correct without ripping back. Which isn't fun. Sometimes I can pick it up and fake it. Other times if your stitch count is off it doesn't twist right so that is when I have to rip back. I just need to take my time and make sure I have the stitch and NOT the YO.

Learning something new
This is my shawl for the KAL. I'm learning a new stitch "elongated right twist". It takes a bit of time to wrap it around my brain but hopefully I got it. I like it when I learn new stitches. You never should stop learning.

Writing it out and test knitting it
I finally started this. I'm not going to be keeping the test knit. I'm knitting it to make sure my written instructions match the picture. I already notice that the books on the sides were missing part of their heads. It's slow going since I need to count and write it out then knit it. The yarn is leftover Bugga (sport weight). The orange is what I want the blue needs to be brighter. I'm going to knit the shawl in fingering weight. Here is the pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/icehouse
