This is my blog for my new business. I've been knitting since Feb 2009 after a break of 15+ years. I first learned from books but picked up again since my friend dyed the most beautiful yarns and I just couldn't collect them. I started to spin in Aug 2010 on a spindle and then on a Hansen Minispinner since Oct 2010. I started to weave Sept 2014 on an Emilia Glimakra Rigid Heddle Loom. I've been test knitting since 2011 and a sample knitter since 2016.

FO and Another Sample Knit!
I got my test knit done. It just needs to be washed and blocked. It's the part I like least along with weaving in the ends.
I finally got my Baa-ble Hat washed and blocked. It's ready for my trip to Rhinebeck in the fall.
My Drachenfels turned out HUGE but that is what you get when your "fingering" weight yarn isn't quite fingering weight. I love it though and it will go in the county and state fair this year.
I got my Woolgathering off the wheel. I can't wait to see how it plies up.
This is my latest sample knit. It's Spotlight and it will be at Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival at the Backyard Fiberworks booth!! If you remember just around Christmas, I won $100 gift certificate to Backyard Fiberworks. I got some lovely yarn and just decided to ask Alice if she needed samples knitted. She said yes! She has some other shawls I will be knitting too. This is Backyard Fiberworks Sock in Shell. I soon will be adding Silver Springs.

They Weren't Kidding!
Sorry for the lack of posts! I somehow managed to hurt my back last Sat and am just starting to feel better. I ended up going to urgent care on Tuesday since the usual heat pad, rest and Motrin wasn't doing it. I was in a car accident and sometimes even a strong sneeze can make my back hurt. I had to take muscle relaxants this time though. Those even at 1/2 a dose puts me to sleep and I don't get anything done!
I did managed to finish spinning my Wool Gathering 50% merino/50% silk. I just need to ply it.
I did finish my cowl too!
Needles: Size 9 circulars
Yarn: The Verdant Gryphon Codex in Behind the Beautiful Forevers

That's It for Tour De Fleece 2015!
From left to right:
Into The Whirled Odds & Ends 204 yards Sports weight
Woolgathering July 2013 Adventure Club 269 yards Sport weight
Loop! Magic Trick bump 257 yards fingering weight
JulieSpins Great Barrier Reef 328 yards fingering weight
I did the Odds & Ends and Loop! on the spindle but transfer the yarn onto a bobbin to ply on the Mini Spinner (so much easier). My goal was 5 braids but I only finished 4 into yarns. I'll try for 5 next year. I need to work on getting pictures back up on this blog too.

More of the Same
I've been quiet due to spending most of my free time spinning. I have 2 yarns done and starting another 2.
This was a Into The Whirled bag of Odds and Ends bag. I got 204 yards of 18 WPI (sport weight).
I started my Magic Trick Loop! bump on the spindle. I'm into the pink now.
On the Minispinner is my JulieSpins 80% Merino & 20% Silk Great Barrier Reef fiber. I hope to spin one more JulieSpins fiber before the end of Tour De Fleece on Jul 26th. Wish me luck!

Tour De Fleece 2015!
Here is a picture of 3 of the braids I hope to spin. It's a Loop Batt and then 2 JulieSpins braids. The other two were already to go on the Mini Spinner and on the spindle. Tour De Fleece will run Jul 4 to Jul 26. I hope to spin at least 2 hours a day between the spindle and the spinner.
This was Day 1, Jul 4th. I took my spindle with me when we went out of town to watch fireworks. I got a couple of the little bundles of odds and ends done. I plan to ply it with the Mini Spinner when its all spun up. It's harder to ply on the spindle. This is Into The Whirled bag of Odds and Ends.
This is my Day 2 Jul 5 so far. I started my Woolgather July 2013 Adventure Club fiber. I got a good start. Back to spinning!

Just Off the Mini Spinner
Just finished spinning 4 oz of Super Fine Merino from Woolgatherings in the colorway UFM04131405. They don't give names to the colors. Below is a picture of the fiber braid. I love how soft the fiber is. My youngest had to pet the fiber last night. LOL! I hope to get close to laceweight. We will see. I'm going to try to chain ply it today.
