This is my blog for my new business. I've been knitting since Feb 2009 after a break of 15+ years. I first learned from books but picked up again since my friend dyed the most beautiful yarns and I just couldn't collect them. I started to spin in Aug 2010 on a spindle and then on a Hansen Minispinner since Oct 2010. I started to weave Sept 2014 on an Emilia Glimakra Rigid Heddle Loom. I've been test knitting since 2011 and a sample knitter since 2016.

Another Loom
Back of loom
Front of loom
This is a child loom that I got for free. Well, not quite but close enough. I had to cover shipping which was less then $20. I saw one similar on Ebay for $50. The lady was offering it free on Ravelry to the first person that wanted it. I'm on Ravelry all the time and saw the post. She said it had been in storage for 30 years and it looks like it. It's for my daughter her got into weaving when she tried my Glimakra. I'll take all the yarn off once I get a chance to figure out how I will have to warp it.

A Quick Knit!
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-fishermans-wife-knit-version
Yarn: Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Solids in Glacier
This took me about 2 hours. It was a clearance kit from Craftsy http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/fishermans-wife-cowl-kit-knit/4638 It comes with the yarn and a pdf of the pattern. It's pretty simple but I've been wanting to knit it up for a while now. It's going to be a birthday gift in March.

Tussah Silk
It's my first time spinning 100% Tussah silk. My favorite is 50% silk and 50% merino. I really like the 100% silk. This is Glacier from JulieSpins. Much nicer then the Black Alpaca with all that vegetative matter (VM). Here is a picture of it. I got 249 yards sports weight.

Twist Stitches
Pattern: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/saturns-rings-shawl
Yarn: Cephalopod Yarns Skinny Bugga! in Flamboyant cuttlefish
This is what I seem to be spending most of my time knitting. This and 2 test knits. What gets me is the twist stitches. There is a yarn over (YO) that you drop. The design is to make long stitches. What happens is try to knit the YO rather then the stitch. This is hard to correct without ripping back. Which isn't fun. Sometimes I can pick it up and fake it. Other times if your stitch count is off it doesn't twist right so that is when I have to rip back. I just need to take my time and make sure I have the stitch and NOT the YO.

Distractions
There are 2 of my test knits, e-spinner, my design (due at the end of Feb), a wrist brace that needs to be fixed, yarn for wash cloths, red & blue yarn for test knit spa cloths, rolag equipment, the sushi project bag is hubby's shark scarf (a double knit that I only get about 1/2 inch done in an hour). I so need to focus and get stuff knocked out.

Learning something new
This is my shawl for the KAL. I'm learning a new stitch "elongated right twist". It takes a bit of time to wrap it around my brain but hopefully I got it. I like it when I learn new stitches. You never should stop learning.

Black Alpaca Fiber
Here is some local black alpaca fiber. Vegetation is really easy to see in this fiber. It's already process but there is still too much. It slows down my spinning. I'll be glad to get this finished.

Must Design Faster!
I'm running out of time to get this done. It needs to be done by the end of Feb. I'm writing and will be knitting as a go. I have up to row 20 written and I'll need at least 70 for the pattern. The shawl will decrease to a point after that.
