Rhinebeck 2017

I'm still recovering from it.  Here are some pictures though.

The view from the window of our hotel room.  We ended up staying in Times Square.  This is 40th Street.

We took Amtrak from Penn Station to Rhinecliff.  Here is a shot of the outside in the early morning.  Our train left at 7am.

A view of the Hudson River from the train.  It was a 2 hour train ride and a short cab ride from Rhinecliff.

This is the Mulberry Street entrance.  We are waiting in line to get our tickets.  It didn't take long to get in.

A view from the Fair while it was early and not so packed.  After 12pm, it was crazy full.

This is me and Kathy.  I'm the grey hair one.

Random shot at the Fair before it got busy.

Another random shot at the fair.

We were gathering in a circle for our Stitch Marker Swap on the Hill.

Basically my fiber haul.  Not shown is the sock blank and bag I got.

I went back before catching the cab to grab these 2 dk weight yarns.  I want to make the Fade Cardigan.

Picture of the Stitch Marker Swap.  I have so many nice stitch markers now.

A view of Times Square.

Studio Three

Apparently I won a gift certificate last year with my Best In Show Spinning at the Arizona State Fair.  I say apparently because I didn't know about it till late last year.  The gift certificate never came with the ribbon I got.  I finally got a chance to go up to Prescott to use it.  It's about a 5 hour drive if we drove straight up.  We didn't.  We broke up the trip with a stop in Phoenix.  I was worried that we wouldn't be able to go because they are still fighting the Goodwin Fire up there.  Luckily they had about 40% contained before we went up.  We didn't stay long because my oldest suddenly got sick and felt better once we left.  Here is what I got.

The fiber and yarn is dyed by a local dyer about 10 miles from Prescott.  It was great shopping for yarn and fiber in person.  I often have to buy via the Internet since there are no LYS.

Here are some pictures of our drive up to Prescott.  Lots of areas still smoking and burnt near the highway.

Time is running out!

For the most part, I can't show you what I'm working on since its a test knit for a future KAL.  It's an interesting mixture of color and texture but I have to wait till the KAL is done before I can put up pictures.  Meanwhile this is what else I've been up to.

Still working on this purple fiber.  I think I'm more then half way through.  It's from Hobbledehoy.

I added this to my fiber stash.  Can't wai tto see how it spins up!

Added this fun yarn from The Fiber Seed.  It's fingering weight called Funfetti.  No, I don't have a pattern for it yet.

I finished a square for my patchwork triangle blanket!

I need to finish the second slipper and then felt them.

This is suppose to be a Christmas gift.  I have this chart and then the edging to do.

This is one of those vanilla socks with a self striping yarn for my sock collection.  These make great knitting projects to take while waiting for appointments.

Another vanilla sock pattern knitting from a sock blank for my daughter.  I LOVE how the colors are showing up.  You never know from the sock blank just how it will knit up.

Gift Certificate Shopping!

I finally got a chance to head up to Phoenix.  Mesa actually.  I went to the Fiber Factory and got this with my gift certificate plus some cash.  The pink fiber is Romney for my daughter.  She picked it up and said "It's so PINK!!".   The other fiber is 50% silk and 50% merino.  The rainbow color yarn was also picked by my daughter for a hat.  Interesting choice but as long as she wears the hat, I don't mind.  I couldn't pass up the gradient set.  The purple yarn is a hat for the other daughter.
