This is my blog for my new business. I've been knitting since Feb 2009 after a break of 15+ years. I first learned from books but picked up again since my friend dyed the most beautiful yarns and I just couldn't collect them. I started to spin in Aug 2010 on a spindle and then on a Hansen Minispinner since Oct 2010. I started to weave Sept 2014 on an Emilia Glimakra Rigid Heddle Loom. I've been test knitting since 2011 and a sample knitter since 2016.

It's That Time Again!
Time for County and State Fair. I'm entering 2 shawls, 1 hat and 3 handspun yarns. I hope I can get best in show or best spinner for State. It's going to be hard since I got it 2 in a row already. Here is a group shot.
The dark shawl is done with my handspun yarn. It was suppose to be 3 different yarns but I ended up using 6 yarns. The bright shawl was a shawl I did for a knit along. I do love it. It's bright and happy. The purple hat was last minute. I had a test knit hat but I thought it wasn't complicated enough. I love how the cables showed up. Wish me luck!

Wish Me Luck!
It's that time of the year again, County and State Fair! Since I've won First Place in both fairs, the pressure is on to win again. Last year I won Best Spinner. I hope to win that again. Below are my spinning entries.
On the left is Bee Mice Elf 100% BFL. In the middle is Into The Whirled 50/30/20 Alpaca/Merino/Silk Blended Top. On the right is Loop! bump Merino, nylon, and Angelina.
I didn't finish a pair of socks. I've been just knitting vanilla socks so for the first time I didn't enter socks. The socks usually win so I'm a bit worried. I decided to submit some of my test knit hats instead and 2 shawls. The dark blue green one is huge and took a long time (no rest rows on the back). I hope to find out the results in November.

Still Missing In Action
My back is still hurting so I haven't been doing much. I'll be seeing a orthopedic doctor next month. Meanwhile I did manage to get my Cochise County and AZ State Fair entries ready. I have this thing about knitting up the handspun I entered last year.
The purple shawl is the handspun that won 1st place in county & state last year. Details here: http://lilieknitting.blogspot.com/2015/02/persian-shawl-wip.html
The socks are actually my husband's. I just finished them. The ones I was trying to finish up for the fair didn't make it. Details here: http://lilieknitting.blogspot.com/2015/01/western-socks-wip.html
I'm entering 3 handspun. Details here: http://www.ravelry.com/people/AtPlayWithFiber/handspun/js-merino-yak-silk-colonial

Winnings!
My check for Arizona State Fair! The way it works at State level is that I had to pay $1 per entry to enter the State Fair. First prize is $5 and I got 3 of them. Not bad but the ribbon is better. Now the pressure is on to repeat my first place next year.
Cochise County Fair doesn't require entry fees. The first place winners get $4 each. So my total winnings for both fairs was $27. Again I need to repeat my placement for next year.

Finally Got My Entries Back!
I entered 2 yarns, a pair of socks and a shawl for the Cochise County Fair and Arizona State Fair. They have this wonderful Outreach program so they went from the County to the State. My friend Charla picked them up and delivered them back to me so even more awesomeness!! I finally got them back. I won first place for everything except for the shawl. It only got Honorable Mention at State.
Here they are with all the Arizona State ribbons.
